TTS Question

I apologise in advance if this has already been asked. I did a quick search but didn't find any other post on-topic.

I installed Sherpa Onnx text to speech (TTS), enabled it in the system settings, and have it working in Organic Maps now. I turned all exploit protections on and didn't allow any permissions.

My question is, can Sherpa Onnx read when I type into a browser (Vanadium, Brave, etc) or input a username, password, etc into a banking app? Or would I somehow have to affirmative enable it for those apps?

No, the apps need to explicitly choose to use the TTS API. The reason it has to be explicitly authorized is because it gives access to what apps pass to the OS API. The apps are trusting whatever the user enables to handle it so it would be dangerous if it started working by installing a TTS app without enabling it. There's meant to be one bundled that's already authorized which we're working on implementing by making our own TTS app.

Blind users making use of TalkBack would be giving nearly everything to it since TalkBack would be enabled as an accessibility service and passing the text to it.
