Spotify + Android Auto

Hello. My apologies if this has been asked and answered but I wasn't able to find a post about it.

Previously I had been able to connect my phone through wired Android Auto and use Spotify like normal. However recently, I don't remember if it aligned exactly with a graphene os update but I believe it may have, Spotify no longer loads on my car display. If I select the app it shows all gray. I can still play audio from my phone, it plays properly, but no info displays on my car display, and the buttons on my steering wheel do not control it like it normally would.

I'm unsure if an update caused the issue or some other compatibility issue came up, any help or guidance for finding the problem would be greatly appreciated.

I literally just came on here to see if anyone else was having this problem. For me the Spotify app loads and I can browse playlists and choose what songs to play, but "now playing" is completely blank so I can't pause, skip or see what is currently playing. The last time I used it was last Saturday and it worked fine, the Spotify app hasn't been updated since then.

Same here. I can still view the song queue but the current title playing is not displayed anymore. Also controls with the steering wheel do not work.

Hi all, glad to see that I am not alone.

+1 for me as well, to echo others' sentiment - mainly just glad to see it isn't a me problem. Not as high a priority as the RCS issue I imagine, but hopefully can be resolved without jumping through too many crazy hoops. Thank you Makuta for the initial report!

Hi, just here to say that I've had the same issue in the past few days.
One interesting thing I noticed is that clearing cache & data for android auto temporarily (for a few hours) resolves the issue.

it does not work with apple music for me too.

Either pressing play returns to main screen immediatey or it plays for a few seconds and stops, and goes to main screen.

Hi all, I flushed the cache and APP data, that did the trick for me. Playback back to normal. Good luck!

@Ostwestfale How long did that work?
I did that this morning, it worked fine on my way to school, but it was broken again when I was coming back (~6hours later).
My car is a '21 Skoda Superb, in case this problem is manufacturer-related (which I highly doubt)

kyngs problem showed again after nightly update and reboot. Workaround applied and everything was back to normal. Need to monitor, if this behaviour can be observed going forward.

Mhm, for me the fix really just only works for a few hours. Anyways, are we kinda confident that this is a GOS issue? And if yes, should we file a bug?

kyngs I'm not informed which about the inter play between the different apps and system to be confident it's an os issue, but I'm reasonably confident it didn't happen after a Spotify update, so it would be my guess that it's something on graphenes end, either the os or the sandboxed app for auto

I'm also in this boat. I have cleared the cache of the spotify application and also reinstalled Android Auto but I couldn't get it to work.

Glad to see that this isn't just me but I can't find any other information from any other stock Android users.
