What app to use to open graphene.os patch file?

Hiya, looks like I goofed and deleted Google play the wrong way. Somewhere on this platform I found an AppStore-21.zip that I think might correct my error -- apologies, I can't refind the thread to link here. I saved the zip to files and can't open it. Can someone kindly walk me through how to run files in this zip to hopefully fix this issue? I really wish that I didn't need google play anymore, but, unfortunately, I do. To whomever is patient enough to respond to this privacy-obsessed Luddite, thank you so so much!

It looks like Aurora store is run by Huawei? Really trying to avoid another store. Mad respect for all of the work that went into visioning and creating the sandbox model!

Update: I moved the zip from downloads to the tablet and it suggested using BeauTyXT. I'm getting errors and still don't know what I'm doing. Any chance you kind soul reading this are down to walk me through this?

Frittata Check if you have disabled it. Go to settings, apps, and then filter for disabled apps. If it's there, simply activate it again and you're good to go.

Otherwise open the system App Store and install google play store from there with one click.

Frittata Sandboxed Google Play is installable through the App Store app bundled in GrapheneOS, ie GrapheneOS' own app store. Are you not able to install it from there? What error message do you receive?

ryrona Thank you so much for responding! I'm brand new to posting in forums like this. I had initially successfully downloaded the sandboxed play, installed some things, and then uninstalled all google services. Only to realize that I need another app. Now when I try to reinstall the google apps through the graphene app store, I get this error message:

"Unable to download Google Play Store, Google Play services: Unable to resolve the server name.

Details:
java.net.UnknownHostException: Unable to resolve host "apps.grapheneos.org": No address associated with hostname"

I saw somewhere in this forum that there's a wrong way to uninstall Google play and there was a zip file shared to fix this. But I've been unsuccessful in resolving this issue. Really appreciate any support!

Open the Settings app, and go to Apps -> App Store -> Permissions, and ensure Network permission is granted to the app.

Drue3 I went to settings and apps and am unable to see how to find disabled apps. But I did uninstall it and am unable to reinstall it.

Frittata you can find disabled apps in Settings > Apps > All apps by tapping on "All apps" button on the top and choosing "Disabled apps". Do you see Play services there?

When I go to the graphene app store it doesn't show it as disabled, it gives me the option to install, but then I get that error message.

Unfortunately I was previously not getting calls or signal messages when I had ivpn installed so I'm not using a VPN, though trying to research one that works.

If you have disabled at least one app, then you will see a drop down in the All Apps screen labeled All Apps where you can select:

All Apps
Installed Apps
Disabled Apps

If you do not see this drop down menu, then you do not have any apps that are disabled.

So I'm traveling and looks like Paris has done away with paper tickets and requires an app, Île de France :-\

I have been trying to get sandboxed play back for over a week. I don't know how to verify Aurora downloads on github. By any chance is this something you might be able to send on proton or instructions for how to verify?

Frittata For me personally, verifying downloads from Aurora is a non issue and I usually don't take any further steps for reasons I explained some time ago that packages come from Google infrastructure and as such should be unadulterated. But I do have a method of signature comparison with another independent source (Apkpure and if I wanted to be extra cautious I could add ApkMirror but that would reduce app availability for comparison) which is a bit lengthy to describe here but worked flawlessly in all my previous attempts.

What I can recommend you and not that you have to follow it, if you are desperate, just download Ile de France Mobile from Aurora and don't worry that much about verification. I hope it works without complaints.
