Sattellite emergency calls/messages in Eurlpe(Skylo eSIM

I bought a Pixel 9 in Europe and it came with a Skylo eSim preinstalled. Some online search shows this serves for satcom. For me the ability to call emergency services is important since in the mountains there is often no terrestric grid. To carry a dedicated satellite phone such as SPOT or inReach is additional weight and cost for something you probably will use less than once in your lifetime. But if you need it it might safe your live and the ones of your group. I do not need voice communication. Just an emergency SMS with coordinates would be enough. I do not expect such a service to be for free.

My questions:

What is the purpose of the preinstalled Skylo esim?
Why is Satellite emergency messenging/calling in Europe just for iPhone users even if the phone would handle the communication?
How do I test the satellite communication without actually alarming someone?
Is GrapheneOS preventing me to do emergency satellite calls compared to AOSP?

This functionality is not there on my European Pixel.

I found this paid service Bullitt (190 $/yr) which comes with its own app but I cannot overcome the SMS verification in the app. My real number is not accepted as a phone number and if I use a disposable SMS service I get no message. Maybe a permissions issue? But the app does not ask for any permissions.
