Hi all, I am new to both GrapheneOS and Android in general (I've never used an Android phone), so my apologies if this is question has an obvious answer. After reading the description on the GrapheneOS website, I (think I) understand the purpose of sandboxing the Google Play Store. However, I keep reading in many other sites to use Aurora Store instead of Google Play Store. Why?
If my threat model is to prevent Google and other corporate surveillance entities from collecting data on me, would I be safe to use a single-use email alias for Google Play Store and use that to download apps rather than using the Aurora Store? It isn't clear to me how using Aurora is better than just using a single-use alias as I described. Thank you for your help!
