help - my screen died without reason

hey guys,
my google pixel 8 running graphene os just got stuck on a weird scambled sceen out of nowhere. it looks like every pixel is randomly showing 100% red, blue or green - so a bit like an old tv without signal, but in colour and without the movement.
there has been no water damage or any other physical interference. i don't believe i ever even dropped it.
i can turn the screen off and on and if i hold down the power button i still get the feedback as if the restart menu just opened. trying to restart it by guessing the button positions hasn't worked so far.
a minute ago it just randomly regained consciousness and i immediately restarted it. after the restart we are back to the same fried state.
is this some weird software bug or did some physical thing just spontaneously fry itself? and what do i do?

rosa-b try force restarting the device by holding all three hardware buttons together until it turns off.

This might very well be a hardware issue with the GPU.

n3t_admin i have tried this already and just now tried it again. the screen turns off for like 2 seconds, then comes back on again but brighter. for the next 15 seconds the power button does nothing. after those 15 secs the brightness lowers again and the power button turns the sceen off and on again.

rosa-b yeah, I think it's time to take the phone to a repair shop. Either the the display or the GPU seem to be broken.

had that issue on my P8...checked the IMEI, got a shipping label, sent it for repair, got it back within 10days or so.

Yeah, same with me. One might have to go through the reseller where one originally bought the phone, though, if one didn't buy it from Google, I don't know. The described issues sound a lot like a hardware problem. Note that highly likely they'll wipe the phone and return it back with the stock OS installed.
