GOS needs to POP!

I would love to see one of the lead GOS devs go on Joe Rogan since that alone would make the exposure to GOS really POP. Joe has mentioned it twice in the past couple of years with guests but wouldn't it be interesting to have a deep dive into what is really going on in the world of telecommunications.

No, this is not the right way imho.

The project members try to keep a low profile. Considering the swatting attacks against the former lead dev Daniel Micay, I don't think it's a good idea to attract even more attention to the project as is.

GrapheneOS is not a project that needs marketing or social media promotions. And I don't think Joe Rogan is the right platform for such a topic either, since his talks are pretty trivial and don't go into detail, which would be a hard requirement as I see it. Not even mentioning the political debates this might stir.

And considering the recent struggles with Google's dumbness, the time is not right to focus on this and instead invest valuable time to deliver important OS updates.

n3t_admin Agreed, people who want privacy will find a way if they are capable. Those who aren't capable of finding GOS themselves would probably contribute to misinformation and conspiracy theories in the community

You make excellent points and are probably right. Perhaps all we need is to get Elon behind the project, which will give it the staying power it will need to go on for a long time.

mmdrsmr Elon is most likely the last thing GrapheneOS needs. They just need to be left alone, outside of all the political lunacy. They'll thrive that way.

Communications security is not a game, or a popularity contest, to be promoted like a new brand of laundry soap.

Joe Rogan regularly engages in peddling false information. Ultra-wealthy folks like him are antithetical to a privacy-focused project like GrapheneOS in my opinion.

I don't understand the stigma of GrapheneOS going mainstream. As GrapheneOS is a niche project, its users stick out like a sore thumb. Furthermore, a larger user base attracts more scrutiny, which can only be a good thing for a security-oriented project.

I would like to see GrapheneOS adopted by enterprises and governments. This would help the project become better known as a security and privacy focused OS, rather than having the unfair association of being an OS used by criminals.

Whether GrapheneOS developers go on interviews or not is another question and should be their own decision.

If GrapheneOS came to be associated with Rogan or Musk in anyway I would stay far away from it. Mass propaganda (Rogan) and surveillance/data theft/corruption (Musk) is diametrically opposed to what Graphene is (and should) be about imo. That's before even touching their horrendous political ideologies and influence on culture.
