Signal in Admin and Daily profiles?

Hi all,
New user here. I just set up a daily user profile, to use in place of my admin profile. When I went to open Signal on the daily profile, it asked me to set up Signal and transfer it from my old device. Did I mess up by signing into Signal on the admin profile? How do I activate it on the daily profile when its already active on the Admin one?

intimeandplace you can't. For mobile devices, Signal can only be set up once as a main account. Desktop devices and tablets can be linked, but not phones. You will have to decide which profile you want to keep Signal on.

Lake05 You need to enable Send notifications to the current user option.
Settings - System - User it is at the bottom.
You need to enable it for all the profiles you want to receive notifications including the owner profile.

Example

Owner profile(let's call this profile1) - Whatsapp installed and send notification option enabled.
First user/secondary profile(same but it's profile2) - Signal installed and send notification option disabled.
Second user/secondary profile(profile3) - You are here.

Now, when someone text you on Whatsapp, you receive a GrapheneOS notification that says Notification from Whatsapp for Profile1 along with a button that says Switch to Profile1 to quickly go to that profile.The notification won't have any other text like the contact name or the message. You need to swith to profile1 to see who texted you.
For Signal, only way to know whether you recevied any text or not is to switch to the profile(here it's profile2), because the send notification option is disabled on that profile.

graphny Thank you for posting this. I was able to get notifications to work for some apps but not others. For instance, system notifications and those from DuckDuckGo are transmitted to current user profile, but other apps do not work. The particular app I am trying to receive notifications from is Amtelco secure messaging. It requires Google Play Services to function. I receive messages in real time when I am in the user profile containing the app. When I switch to the owner profile, I do not receive notifications. I have network and notifications enabled for all of the apps (Amtelco, Google Play Store, and Google Play Services). I also gave all three apps unrestricted battery usage to allow to run in the background. Is there something I am missing?

aragin The network and unrestricted battery usage permissions are sufficient for Play Services. You can disable the Play Store when you’re finished with it.

The app’s Play Store reviews mention many bugs, especially with notifications.

If you can't solve it, is it not possible to install it in the owner profile as well the secondary profile?

graphny Thank you for your reply. I don't think any of the apps needed Play Services now that you ask that. I can install the app in the owner profile, but my goal is to try to avoid Play Services having network access in the owner profile. My understanding was that Play Services needs network access within the same profile of the app requiring its communication. I certainly could be misunderstanding though.

Yes.

That's as far as my knowledge goes. I don't think I can be of any further help.

If you can make a slight compromise, you might consider using Private Space in the owner profile.

graphny I am definitely willing to consider compromises, especially since my paycheck depends on it...What would be the compromise when compared to separate profile? Would I need to separately download play services in the private profile? Would the notifications come through when the private profile is not open? I really appreciate your help.
