I want to get people's opinion on this issue. At the beginning of year, I will not be using a sim card for any of my phones. The reason for the delay to give my contacts (at least those that want to) time to switch over to SimpleX Chat for texting. I will be porting my mobile number to a VOIP provider (most likely jmp.chat). My question is: For emergency situations (such as my car breaking down), I want to have a phone that does have mobile data (data only, no phone or text). Would I be better off getting a mobile hotspot or using a smart phone and just use hotspot tethering on it? I know security-wise, the hotspot is way better. My thought is I could just do a factory reset on a smart phone (not my GOS phone) or get a cheap smart phone, pay cash, and only use it for data only. I am sorry if this topic was brought up before, but I couldn't find it. If you think mobile hotspot is the best option, could anyone name a mobile hotspot that is realiable and not super expensive (Basically under $300 or so). Thank you in advance for all who reply. I value all who respond, as I like to hear all opinions on the matter, as I am late to the party of privacy and security. I just migrated to GOS about a month to a month and a half ago. So far, very happy with the decision!!!
