Vibration On, but there is no vibration.

So I never have a sound on on my phones, but vibration was always enough to notice when im getting a call or notification.
But at some point I started noticing I was missing too many calls and turns out the phone is not vibrating at all when I get calls or notifications.

Turning vibration & haptics off and back on once doesnt work, doing it multiple times eventually does make it work for calls (not for notifications), but at some point it just stops working again.

Tried restarting the phone of course.
Pixel 9A updated with latest grapheneOS version.

I had the behaviour on my p6a times ago.
It was an app spamming notification because it was badly coded.

Do you have an app with persistent notifications by any chance ?
I had the behaviour with orbot for example.

Not really, I have very few apps with notifications on, i dont have any spam.
The only thing i can think of thats kinda always there is the system updater always telling me the phone is up to date or something else.

I could try disabling that.

NanoPIX dont disable that, you need those notifications in order to actually update the phone

same issue here, and also Pixel 9A. Been trying to get it working on my clock app, in particular, but I don't think vibration has been going off for anything else either.
Made sure phone notifications were not set to silent, nor was do-not-disturb turned on. Tried toggling all permissions, clearing storage for the clock app (which were some suggestions for other clock related issues). Notification sound seems to be working for me (when I've been paying attention anyway), just not vibration. Not really sure what to try here

So, I think I solved this for myself... some user error, but hopefully other people that made the same simple mistake find this thread.

I disabled "vibration and haptics" under settings very quickly after my initial setup the phone, thinking I was simply disabling the typing haptics. Instead I should've simply disabled "keyboard vibration" at the bottom of the same settings page. Reenabling "vibration and haptics" fixed the issue for me. If there was a way to notify the user that vibration was blocked due to the configured setting, that would probably be ideal.

Also a small note that this setting isn't specific to grapheneos, my wife had done the same thing on her stock pixel 9a. Both of us upgraded from much older phones and separately made the same mistake.
