Phone call denied in pocket

I am using the default phone app, and often at work, the incoming calls are denied while still in the pocket/when taking the phone out of the pocket. I have tried to disable "Allow full-screen notifications" in the notifications permissions for the app. This required me to unlock the phone first, which is an extra step I wish to be without.
It seems that the whole reason is because of the screen being active on the incoming call in the pocket. Is it possible to somehow change this, so that I first have to press the lock/unlock screen button? I would imagine this solves the problem.

Are they really denied or handed over to the mailbox. Because when this happens inside the pocket without any physical touch, it sounds more like that the time span to answer a call is set too short.

If that happens because you accidentally block the call when taking the phone out of your pocket, you could try turning it around, so that the touch screen is on the other side than usual and you can't accidentally touch it so easily.

As far as I have been told by the people calling me, the call is hung up rather quickly, and they are passed on to the mailbox. They all say that it is by no means because I missed it/finished ringing.
I will have to try some different arrangements in the pocket. Alternatively another pocket entirely.

If it rings over to voicemail very quickly that might be an indication that the network had lost the phone. After the fact does the phone show a missed call?
