Hey guys. About to break free of the Samsung ecosystem. Looking at getting a brand new pixel 7 pro, but i see that end of google support is quickly approaching. Is it wise to even go down this route or should I get a 9/10 instead? Does graphene continue to release updates even when google stops support?

Better to go with the 9 series. If you want to save some money, then an 8.

Both of those series have memory tagging which is a big security improvement over the 7s.

Edit, yes GOS releases some updates after google stops but they're intended to allow the user time to upgrade their device.

hypnotiq In addition to MTE the 8 series has "DisplayPort Alt mode", meaning that it can drive a display over the USB-C port. Right now that's not very useful, because Google is way behind on shipping their "desktop mode", but I suspect it will start working before the 8 series reaches EOL.

Basically, a 6-series or 7-series device makes sense only if short-term price is the primary concern, outweighing device lifetime and security.

8 series is preferred, as it adds support for MTE.

Thanks guys! Glad I checked. The 9 pro xl is not TOO much more, especially considering support is supposed to continue for another 6 years.
