Battery percentage and bootloop issues on fresh GrapheneOS install on Pixel 8

Hi everyone,

I just bought a Google Pixel 8 and installed the latest version of GrapheneOS immediately, without using the phone with the stock OS first. After installation, I noticed a weird behavior with the battery indicator:

The battery percentage drops very quickly to 1%, but then I can sometimes use the phone for several hours before it actually runs out of battery.

If I turn off the phone completely, the battery display works normally.

However, if I plug in the charger while the phone is off, it goes into a bootloop instead of staying off and charging normally.

Has anyone experienced similar issues on Pixel 8 with the latest GrapheneOS? Any tips on how to fix or diagnose this would be greatly appreciated.

Hey! for the past 2-3 weeks my battery is also draining quite fast. The changelog don't show anything special, and I don't have any special apps either. I'll check recently installed apps and go from there.

For the bootloop while charging, when the phone restart, press the power button to pause the boot process (when the screen with a yellow triangle appear). Wait 5-10 minutes, then unpause the boot sequence. The phone should boot normally.
It sucks that this isn't done better - this has been like that for quite a while now, they should really fix how the phone boots from 0%.

Thanks for your feedback — it’s reassuring to see I’m not the only one experiencing these issues.
For the battery, I’ll also double-check my recently installed apps in case one of them is draining more power than expected.

Regarding the bootloop while charging, thanks a lot for the tip with the power button during boot, I’ll give that a try. It would definitely be nice if GrapheneOS could fix this behavior, since having to do that kind of workaround isn’t very convenient in daily use.

If I find a cleaner solution or a clear explanation, I’ll make sure to share it here.
