is com.android.xxx files safe?

Seeing a bunch if these when I went into see what has network settings. Maybe someone can give me some insight as to what they are?

AliCoil Various packages do various things. A lot of AOSP code (though not all of it) was contributed by Google's Android division, and thus the package names start with com.android.

If a package shipped with the OS, the GrapheneOS developers believe it is doing something reasonable, and in many cases something necessary.

Below the Android package layer, there is enormous amounts of code in GrapheneOS, written by many people, including lots of code in the kernel written by Google. Firmware is written by Google, Broadcom, ARM, etc.

de0u I see, so if graphene devs left it in there they are mostly safe I’m assuming.

They all come with default network permissions so I think I’ll leave them on . Havent seen anyone removing making a post or video about this yet

AliCoil I think maybe the key issue is that some people who were previously running a vendor version of Android (Google, Samsung, etc.) are used to "debloating" or turning things off to get rid of code that might be up to things one doesn't like.

But GrapheneOS doesn't include any Google apps or Samsung apps, etc. Everything that is installed with GrapheneOS is there because the GrapheneOS project believes that thing is important, useful, or at least ok.
