Google Play asking phone number for verification

As the title says Google playstore logged me out and now its me for phn number. Initially when creating an account it didnt ask me. Now it says authentication is required to confirm if its really me. Is there anywork around for this? I read that I need to enable 2fa and google woululd just ask the 2fa code but now i cant enable without logging in. Do I need to reset the device?

If this is just a burner account you made to download apps and are not using it for anything else, just create a new account and use 2fa immediately.

If you have paid items or anything stored that you need access to, then you'll have to provide a phone number. You could always use a temp number if you can access one.

Are you saying Google is asking you for a random phone number not previously associated with your account to confirm you are the rightful account owner? Just... how would that confirm anything?!

Earthyyy you can try smspool.net. I have successfully used it to authenticate multiple google accounts. Or maybe set up a burner through another service like JMP.

FRESHLY REINSTALLED GPS AND CREATED A NEW BURNER ACC THE SAME WAY. THE SANDBOXED GPS ALLOWED ME TO DO. AND I ADDED 2FA. NOW I DONT THINK THEY WILL LOG ME OUT.

Nowadays, even Google often collects your data using tricks like this - asking you to confirm your identity by entering a phone number they didn’t know before.

Yes, I've seen this as well with Microsoft. Can make a new account without phone number, then later it locks you out unless you give them (and confirm via SMS) any number. They don't even know if it's you or a hacker who's giving the number. It's quite obvious that they don't care about your account safety but only want to know who you are.
