While travelling withing the EU you usually don't have to pay roaming charges, unless you stay outside the country your SIM card is based for more than three months. More info here..
This means that you can purchase a SIM card in one country and still use your data. Calls within the country you're staying in are the same as on your contract. Maybe that would be an option as well.
