Music setup?

Hello everybody!

I am curious as to what music setups people use on mobile/PC? I'm currently paying for Spotify Premium, although I've been looking at some alternatives like using Metrolist, though I've had issues with that when trying to play music without a Google account.

As far as streaming goes, I can recommend Apple Music as an "affordable" (as in same price) alternative to Spotify with an arguably more beautiful app. For your owned music, you can setup a JellyFin server, if you want to stream it.
There's also a plethora of YT Music clients out there, including ReVanced to patch the original YT Music app.

I use the USB Audio Player PRO app. AFAIK this is the only app that is able to bypass Android's audio resampling and thus the only solution for lossless audio playback. The two major downsides compared to every alternative I've tried is 1. It costs 10 dollars and 2. It has to be purchased from the Play Store.
However, being able to play local files and also connect to services such as TIDAL or DropBox makes up for it, in my use case.

Never had issues with Metrolist, always worked well for me with or without an account.
Another alternative is Kreate, similar type of app, or you can use NewPipe.
I personally now use pinchflat, then use syncthing to sync it to my phone for offline access, then I use Symfornium (requires play store) to play said music, excellent music app, if you want full FOSS, Auxio is a good alternative.

If you want to pay for it, Apple Music is the only real way to go, Spotify can be done "privately" but its not worth it imo, not with apps like Metrolist, NewPipe and Kreate.

oci3o before you go apple music, you should definitely consider tidal :P

Roon & roon arc on mobile, which now has propper usb support like usb audio player pro.

I have around 300gb collected lossless music and connected tidal to it for finding new music

The only downside is that there's no player for linux. Gotta use wine

I can't stand the quality from spotify it's too compressed sounding, and youtube's quality is much worse. I pay for Tidal and also have a collection of downloaded FLAC lossless files I listen to with Auxio. I wish I could just listen to the open source apps that stream youtube but the quality is so terrible I don't understand how people can listen to it.

I use RadioDroid for streaming after setting up some favorite channels. (Internet Radio)
As for my personal music titles, I usually download some music packs in archive.org inside a VM on Linux, converting them (also in a VM) to a different format and dumping the converted files on my phone. (It is a great offline solution, which I frequently need)

simpmusic I found this app from i forget where but ive been using it for weeks now and its amazing. It uses ytmusic, very similar to newpipe but its kind of a mix of spotify and ytmusic apps.

Foobar2000 with the most important files available offline on the device. If I need to listen to something I don't have offline with me, I use Round Sync to access my Cloud drive within Foobar2000.

W1zardK1ng you know what today I realized that tbh newpipe is higher quality, way better ui, seamless flow and loading of songs, so I use it now for music, simpmusic kept lagging.
