Unable to Access Websites/DNS problems?

I am using a VPN. I can run the Tor Browser over VPN to access this forum.

I can connect to multiple application servers and update apps and can run Invizible.

I am NOT able to use Fennec or IronFox to access any normal sites, including things like cnn.com that would never be blocked. I am getting errors about the connection being insecure when trying. Both Apps have network access.

I do not know when this problem started, probably the last two to three days. I get stable updates.

I am not sure what is causing this and am also afraid that it's possible my VPN connection is being tampered with and it only appears like I am connected to the correct VPN server, but there's no proof to confirm any ofthose fears.

What should I do?

Just a potentional wild guess, but while using a vpn is private dns set to off? Does this occur only on fennec and ironfox, and not on vanadium for example?

r134a private dns is off.

Some of tgese browsers ask if you want to "upgrade" dns settings, but i dont see that in either.

What happens without the VPN? I would turn it off and check if the issue persists (if your threat model allows it). If it goes away without the VPN, you've found the problem.

Oh shit. What if the VPN has an order to record all traffic coming from some IP, and that IP is an IP I use a lot? If they weren't allowed to tell me, and not allowed to block traffic, they could try to wan me by blocking DNS.

But I know I am able to connect to some other servers based on name outside of browsers. And I don't see why they would just block 443 traffic and I don't think DNS queries always go through 443 or 80 in browsers.

Should I be triple pass wiping/durress passing everything or too soon?

I don't want to connect without VPN.

That would indicate if the problem affects the whole OS or just a few select apps.

I don't understand what you are trying to communicate. As of right now, I'm trying to help you troubleshoot this, since I think that something is misconfigured. The next step is the last step - test without a VPN/with VPN disabled.
