NOTIFICATIONS from Proton Mail

Hi All...
I feel like I just got a late Christmas gift :)
I've only been on GOS two weeks (?) and love it! But like everything in life, there's compromise. I run my own small IT business so email notifications are important to me so I can respond to clients promptly. However, I run my business email with Proton Mail and their mail app does NOT receive notifications on GOS.

Well... today the GOS App updated to version 9 as we all knew was coming... then I saw Google Play Store and Google Play Services had updates, which I did. Then tonight I received notification of new emails, so just wanted to share that with anyone else who uses the PM app.

As a side note, I have the Google apps running sandboxed. I started with two profiles so Google services were only running in my second profile.
But later I deleted the second profile after reading that running Google in my primary profile was safe. So I now only have the primary profile, running Google (not logged in as I don't even have an account) and have Proton Mail and my banking apps running without any issues... GOS is just brilliant!

Thanks to the GOS Team for your amazing work. I am now very focused on bringing more onto GOS.

I have started using Proton Mail since I transferred to Proton VPN several months ago and notifications have been working without issue from the start. It sounds like the notifications weren't registered properly with GMS and the update triggered some sort of refresh? Either way, glad your notifications are functioning so you can better do your work!

Notifications are vital for me too. I really love that GMS can be installed as non-privileged apps but provide the same functionality. GrapheneOS devs' success in implementing all of their features without resorting to hacky half-measures and without having to decimate AOSP's underlying code to get everything to work really speaks to how talented the GrapheneOS team is.

New Year is a great time to reflect on the good things in our lives. I'm also thankful for GrapheneOS and hope over time I can assist in the ways that I can to keep this project going.
