To address some of you, yes I have been in the Apple Ecosystem for a long time, but I have also been using GrapheneOS on multiple Pixel phones for years now. Have been trying to switch over to GrapheneOS during that time, but it has never fit my lifestyle. I cannot in my right mind switch to an OS that does not have default encrypted comms. Right now, makes no sense to switch to Android when everyone I talk to has an iPhone. SMS are stored by the NSA permanently, and encrypted RCS is not a thing yet (on iPhone at least). Therefore, since I PERSONALLY use my iPhone for texting people who also have iPhones, it is more private for me to continue using iPhone for that main reason. Out of the 30 or so people I regularly text, only 1 of them has Android.
I made the video because I know I'm not alone. But there is NO content on YouTube demonstrating the struggle that "normies" have when transitioning from iOS to Android, specifically GOS. I made the video to help people understand they DON'T have to switch to GOS to improve their privacy, that's why the second half of the video is just me explaining how to lock iOS down better, because let's face it, 99% of casual watchers are not going to go out and buy a Pixel and flash GOS on it. They are going to want actionable items they can do NOW, which is hardening what they have, which, in America, is likely an iPhone.
But I digress, my professional background is in cybersecurity and networking in particular. Hence why I was VERY alarmed when I saw TradingView being called when I specifically gave NO network permission to Tradingview.
Sure, I'd like to know why this is happening, and why it's only happening on that one app. But I do not expect an answer.
iOS is a great option for MOST normal people who cannot jump through the hoops of GrapheneOS, but only if configured properly. So my video (if normies watch it till the end) will have that information to lock their iPhone down as much as possible.
And @DeletedUser713 , I have no problem demonstrating it. But I also have no incentive to lie. I actually WANT people to use GrapheneOS, I have nothing against it at all. I use 3 phones and one of them is GrapheneOS. But I also do not want people having a false sense of security when clearly something is wrong with those Network Blocking permissions. Hoping someone from the Dev team can take a look and fix it (or address it). Very concerning.
asmina If you could explain how this could be a misunderstanding on my part, I'm all ears. TradingView is the only app that violates it, aside from one other app which I can't remember what it was.
