Removal of physical sim from pixel 10

Basically what's your opinion on that change and if you know its possible to add an esim without google services.

tree-barker Yes, it is possible now just toggle switch for eSIM support and you are good to go. Tho... it will be a little issue since you can use multiple eSIMs but only one can be always active at a time. So, you have to swapping, compare to dual SIM setup.

I don't mind eSIM only if that's what the P10 does.
I have an eSIM in my P6a and no G@@gle anything installed. It works fine.

Newer pixel phones can have 2 esim working at the same time. Dual esim was enabled on pixel 7 or 8, not sure right now.

You're looking at specs for ROW (not US version). Only the US version is lacking physical SIM

Being able to move a SIM from one device to another without going through a negotiation with the carrier can be really convenient.

I have been using my current SIM for five years. I don't see how it's more e-waste than a credit card that is renewed every three years, and I think more people have just one SIM card than just one credit card.

All carriers I tested so far allow moving eSIMs without any action on the carrier's end; all of those carriers used QR codes for eSIM activation, and all I had to do was remove the eSIM from one device and then scan the QR code on a different device.

US carriers insist on mmWave, which the rest of the world doesn't care about. Apple use the SIM slot space for mmWave hardware on US models - would not be surprised if Google is the same.

de0u I use two eSims in my device both are from MVNO's.
I have deleted both eSims for various reasons and re installed them using the same MVNO QR codes from the original emails, without any problems. One MVNO states I can use the QR code three times before requesting another.
The other MVNO has not stated any restrictions on the QR code.
I have not swapped to a second device, so cannot say swapping would work or not.

Whether eSIM QR codes are single use or multi use or even can be used at all varies by country and individual carrier/MVNO. I believe there are still countries which don't have any eSIM capable mobile carriers.
