Hello guys

I am wondering how to delete photos permanently from my phone and without a chance of recovery

I downloaded the iShredder Android app that's in the play store. I am using the free version right now but might upgrade to the $20 yearly military package

The upgrade plan has 25 different wipe methods

Will this ensure that the photos are unrecoverable?

Is this a good app to use or is there anything better?

Does it really work?

DeletedPhotos deleting a file on modern Android phone is sufficient to delete the file itself because of file-based encryption but you must know that copies might exist in cache.

To permantly remove the possible copies in cache, I suggest to clear storage of any installed gallery and file manager apps in your profile.

If the file was sent to you through an app like WhatsApp, also clear storage of that app.

The use of iShredder on current Android version (15 or 16) is a waist of time.

DeletedPhotos this app is almost definitely a con. I don't believe android offers any app sufficiently low level storage device access to do what this is describing, and it would likely be impossible to do for specific files rather than the whole partition at a minimum if not drive

The only way to ensure that a photo can not be recovered would be to delete the user profile that you stored the photo on or factory reset the entire phone.

Any other method could potentially be recovered in some circumstances.

Technically how deletion works is, when you delete a file system just removes the pointer to that location in the disk and Mark it for available to write data. If the an app can write some random data to the address in the disk while it deletes the file will not be recoverable.
But there is some better options, either you can use apps like DroidFS to store those sensitive files encrypted or store everything is in a separate profile and once you delete the profile its all gone.

Not necessarily. The memory where the file was stored will eventually be overwritten. But this is handled at a very low level. It is not something you (or an app, or even the OS) can directly control.
