Feature phone with GrapheneOS

Thank you for your suggestion regarding the language translation.

A feature phone with GrapheneOS would be very interesting for the future.

I don't like smartphones because they only lead to spying, hacking, etc.

For me, smartphones are just junk systems, and security, privacy, and battery life are completely irrelevant.

Feature phones are robust, battery life lasts 15 days, customer feedback is good, and the quality is good, and I think they can no longer be hacked with GrapheneOS.

You would have to develop a feature phone with GrapheneOS and then test whether it can be hacked or whether it is secure and remains unhackable.

I would love to hear your opinion on this.

DeletedUser414 What you're proposing would be an entirely new OS.

Graphene OS is a security hardened fork of Android, by definition any phone that could run Graphene OS would be a smartphone.

As mentioned in the other thread, GrapheneOS security is not a matter of will; it depends on specific hardware security technology. If a feature phone does not have that specific hardware technology then porting GrapheneOS to that phone will not be much more secure than the existing OS. The GrapheneOS project has made it clear that they are not interested in producing low-security versions of GrapheneOS.

No, GOS can be 'hacked', just like any other piece of software. It can have missteps in design which lead to exploits. GOS just tries their best to make other systems in place to prevent any misstep from themselves or others have less impact (such as the exploit protection methods for apps, hardware choices, etc.)

A feature phone will not be supported with GOS, you don't understand the requirements for GOS to be supported on a device.

I think you can still buy mobile phones that can only do calls and send SMS. There are use cases for this, like businesses who need communication with long lasting battery or where they don't want to be connected to the Internet for security reasons.

But in such cases you don't need an entire full blown OS. And except from being tracked by the phone provider/state those simple phones don't have any non physical attack surface.
