I recently installed GOS on my Pixel 6a, and am amazed at the technology possible without google. However, there are a few apps that require google play services, for some reason: Uber, Lyft, Chase bank app, Untapped. These are what I have found so far. I have Obtainium, Fdroid and Aurora installed and use them.
I understand that GPS is sandboxed, which provides significantly more privacy. But even then, there are some possibilities. For example, there is a signed-in version or not. Maybe the banking app works under only one, or maybe neither of these options.
I was really hoping to avoid Google altogether. If so, does this mean that I should use the banking website? So far, it requires me to use the app on my old phone to verify that login. Is there a way around this? Is installing GPS the only way to use Uber or Lyft? What realistically are the options here for minimizing vulnerability to google, now that I am running GOS?
