Dark wallpaper issue on P9Pro

For the past few weeks, I have noticed on one of my user profiles on Pixel 9 Pro that when I set a wallpaper, everything is fine until I apply it, at which point the background darkens considerably, making it difficult to see the colours clearly.

I have tried to force the “bug” with different wallpaper applications without success.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Any solutions?

I'm experiencing the same thing on my 8a but I can't say for how long it's been happening because up until now I was just using a black wallpaper on my second profile.

UnyieldingMachine are you using modes at all? if you are, its worth checking if the 'Dim the wallpaper' setting is enabled for each of the modes you use.

RockHyrax Thanks for the suggestion, however I'm not using any Modes on any profiles.

RockHyrax So I believe I've stumbled across a solution thanks to your comment. I was curious to see how much darker the 'dim the wallpaper' setting would make my already dim wallpaper so I went ahead and created a mode with that setting enabled and turned it on. I didn't notice any difference, but when I turned the mode back off, the previously dimmed wallpaper was no longer dark.
