How can I contribute translating GrapheneOS website to other languages?

Hi there! I speak fluently portuguese and english, and I'm willing to translate GrapheneOS website (available at https://grapheneos.org/) to Portuguese in my free time. I think this is a great contribution, since the google automatic translation have some mistakes, and translation could help promoting the system in my country.

I have knowledge in html and git, however this would be my first open source contribution. Could someone help me in finding my next steps? Thanks a lot!

I’m afraid that GrapheneOS cautious stance has not changed since this message was written.
Also:

We have high standards so we need multiple people including technical people to help with each language translation.

I think that your point against automatic translation tools is a good one. Probably, in the meantime, an unofficial translation would be the way to go; I’m not sure it would be welcomed, though, albeit the only pragmatic thing to do right now.

I think I could possibly try to create a fork with unnoficial translations in the meantime, made by me, right? Perhaps I could also spend my time trying to translate other related open source projects, with less stricted rules (do you know of any one?). Even though GrapheneOS really caught my attention in the past time and I would like to contribute to it in some way!
In addition, if someday GrapheneOS is officially translated to portuguese I want to help, since I think it would be really beneficial to expand it's knowledge!

I don’t know much. You can maybe search on some translation platforms for some projects needing a Portuguese translation, for instance here: Portuguese @ Hosted Weblate.

Even if the translation has already been done, you probably still can contribute, for instance, I see that while the Accrescent app (somewhat close to the GOS ecosystem) has been 100% translated in Portuguese, 97% of the content has still to be reviewed. So, I think that reviewers are also needed: https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/workflows.html#dedicated-reviewers

In the past I've offered to contribute to the Dutch translations and received a polite response from the GOS team that they are not yet ready for community translations. They'd promised to get back to me when they would. I guess we'll have to wait and meanwhile make ourselves useful improving the translations of our favourite FOSS apps.

I will look towards translating other FOSS docs, and when the GOS team get ready for community translations i will contribute! Have you ever translated or contributed to other open source softwares? Any tips in doing so?
