Pixel 8 or 9a for GrapheneOS?

I'm using the Pixel 6 right now but it's far too chunky. The 8 and 9a form factor look pretty good to me and I'm just wanting to hear about people's experiences of using either. The 8 seems pretty popular for Graphene, but the 9a is newer and has no camera bump. What do people here recommend?

Worth noting that I'm aware of the new OEM news but I don't want to wait that long to upgrade.

GhostClub I would personally opt for the 9a. No camera bump, 18 months newer, newer processor, larger battery etc.

I am certainly happy with mine.

If you're looking for the smallest of the two, then you should go for the 8. The 9a is larger.

Many Pixel 8 units have a hardware problem. Eventually the screen develops persistent purple vertical lines and or green screen tint (it happened to me as well). Google provides a single free screen replacement during 3 years.
GrapheneOS doesn't have a repair mode however which might prompt you to factory reset the phone. In my opinion not worth the hassle.

Pixel 8 vs Pixel 9a

Pixel 8 has better camera but 9a has brighter screen and newer cellular modem which significantly improves battery life when using mobile data. 9a will also be supported for 18 months longer.

krysor Is there away to check your IMEI number if you have a faulty device without logging in to Google?

I forgot to add the Pixel 10 will be released today with the shipping starting in a week or so. If you can wait little bit to see when GrapheneOS team manages to support it, maybe it might be worth waiting a little bit?

BTW. afaik 8a doesn't have that hardware problem with the screen
