Bug? - screenshot shows pixelated image while on edit

image pixelates (stays like this while I do edits).
Saved image looks normal

Always happens, even across profiles.
If I hit share to signal and edit there, the image appears normal while I edit it.

Thoughts?

Hey everyone. Keep in mind that this is not a bug with screenshots, but rather a bug with the Gallery app, which is a very old AOSP app that the project plans to replace eventually.

I'd recommend trying out a third party gallery app with its own editor and making that the default, and this issue should go away for you.

Installed Google Photos, tried to edit a screen shot, it wants network permission for that. Oh oh!

I've been liking Aves for a better gallery. However, when taking a screenshot, the edit button on the popup preview bubble, only takes you to the crappy AOSP gallery. Cropping is very difficult and is normally the next thing I do when screenshotting.

Is there any way to change this behavior? To select a "default" gallery app that screenshots will open with?

Graphite i think this is because AVES doesn't have any editing capabilities. massive weak spot of an otherwise stellar app

I just tested it by removing network permission and can crop just fine

yeah... funny thing: open Google Photos, select image, hit edit -- it edits just fine.
take screen shot, press edit, choose Google Photos to do the job and.....it complains that it needs ~~cocaine~~network!
