Phone not starting after newest update

Hi- my phone is non-responsive after the last update was installed. I did not intentionally reboot the phone, but it died and after plugging it in to charge it, it is not starting. I tried the power button and volume + but the phone starts and then freezes once the white screen comes on. It says that I have 100% battery.

What can I do?

The white screen you're talking about, is this the one with the Google logo on it? It's black when your phone is setup and white after a factory reset, so this could indicate your phone was somehow factory reset. I assume you didn't do this yourself, as you say you're unsuccesful in entering the bootloader?

If someone knows how exactly Android or the bootloader determines a "first boot", this might give a clue to the underlying problem. Maybe internal storage failure or something.

GPUser that indicates a deeper issue. Do you still have warranty?
If you can't even get into the bootloader, there's nothing else you can do.
Btw, try to get to the bootloader using both variants: plugged into a PC and unplugged. That might make a difference.

Ok, so I just hold down power and the down key while plugged into a machine (I have a mac)?
That is not doing anything. Does not look like the device is recognised on my computer. How come this is not working but I can get it into recovery mode for a second before it blacks out. @

GPUser try without the power button. Just vol down. I think you are turning off the phone by pressing the power button too long.

So, the phone was able to start when I held the power button and the volume up button, but it would crash after the Graphene OS logo and it showed the page where I entered my passcode (the white screen) and then it crashed.

However, this time when doing this, I am plugged into my mac and I moved to power down button when the system was loading after holding down the power button and volume and it took be into safe mode (it is also recognised by my mac). It has 58% storage used so this suggests to me that it has not wiped the device into a factory reset. I also took out my sim card because I needed to make calls today.

I do not know how to get into bootloader from here to sideline the instillation, but at least I was able to get into safemode.

Aha, so it wasn't the "first boot" screen. That's good!

By the way, I don't think power + volume up does anything, not sure what you were trying to achieve with that combination.

How do I sideline the installation from safemode?

Yeah, I see the post but do not understand how to install adb reboot recovery from safemode. I am not seeing a command line in safeload to use to install the package I downloaded.

Yeah, because that's not possible. You need to boot into fastboot.
Try it with the key combination for your specific model.

Ok. I was able to do that. And now I see:

Error: logwrapper:Cannot log to file /dev/fscklogs/log

It says
Now send he package you want to apply to the device with "adb side load <filename>"

And then it times out because I do not know what to do next, sauyin the abs completed with status 1 , instillation aborted

I have the file on my mac installed and the phone is plugged into the mac, but I do not know what to do from her. Do I open my mac terminal?

GPUser okay, I had read through your posting history and saw you had done a successful CLI install of GOS, so I assumed you sort of know what you're doing.

You need adb+fastboot. Get the newest version, if you haven't already: https://developer.android.com/tools/releases/platform-tools?hl=en

Navigate to that folder in your terminal via cd.

Next, follow the steps to where you get the "now send the..." and open your Terminal. Type ./adb sideload and drag and drop the ZIP file into the terminal. Just press enter afterwards and the sideloading should start.

Yeah, that was back in october and I haven't touched it since.

I just installed adb tools and from the terminal and am in the platform tools foulder. But it is giving me an adb command error although I have put the updated file also in that folder.
I ran:
adb sideload update.zip

from platform-tools % and adb is not being found
