Keyboard likes to join random words when I backspace

It also likes to conjoin them when it corrects text now as well because its adding the mashup words to the dictionary and I can't stop it or change it.

Doesn't do it every time, bur if you backspace on a finished word and it does do it you may as well start the sentence over because there is no limit on how many it will mash up.

TiggyTheTerrible Not sure of the cause, but this is considered an upstream issue:

It doesn't happen with all keyboards and doesn't happen with all apps. I'm not sure which one is the problem or if both are. I vaguely remember seeing affected apps need to update something? Or maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

TiggyTheTerrible only way to stop it is to install Google keyboard unfortunately. I used to use FUTO as the stock keyboard used to behave like that on some apps, then FUTO started acting strange when typing in a website through Vanadium.

I can confirm such a situation:

In my case I have kept GOS out-of-the-box keyboard, but see a specific app to do the word mesh nonsense, in this case: Track&Graph ( https://github.com/SamAmco/track-and-graph ).

I don't know if that is because of some buggy 3rd-party library, some app-internal keyboard-feature that overwrites the (otherwise flawless) default keyboard functionality, or whatever reason.

Apparently, the bug does not show as a GOS- or even Android-global phenomenon but still is somehow shared across multiple apps. If someone can pinpoint the rootcause, I'd be interested to learn more.

This is very annoying. Why can't the maker fix it? It's clearly something in the autocorrect that splices words that are conjoined acting up because it thinks ALL spaces have been added automatically and is removing them incorrectly.

I had that problem with the stock keyboard. I installed Heliboard and that solved the problem. The word predictions are better too.
