Pixel 8 automatically turns on when charging (USB-C or wireless)

Hi all,

I have noticed that recently, my pixel 8 automatically turns on when it is powered off and

either a USB-C plugged to a wall charger is connected or
placed on a wireless charger.

I am fairly certain that this was NOT the behavior until about a week back.

Are others seeing this and is this an issue that could get fixed?

I am on Android 16 build number 2025080600 with Security update of Aug 5 2025.

Is there a setting that I might have accidentally turned on?

gmurlig Powered off by running the battery empty, or powered off by a menu item?

gmurlig Thats how it works and helps you power on the device if your power button is broken.
Connect the power cable first then power it off if you want to keep it off while charging.
