Benefits of Airplane mode & Wifi

Hi,

If using WhatsApp on a profile in a wifi/& airplane mode only phone, is there any benefit to use this over a data sim for security? IMEI broadcast with WhatsApp meta data I take it?

Threat model is physical security of phone and malware being sent to phone by Whatsapp, SMS & email.

dasaint100 your question does not really add up since you mention Whatsapp in specific network configuration and then go to mention sms and email.

If you are going to use the phone just for Whatsapp on wifi why care of sms and or email? Neither is going to be used in combination of Whatsapp.

Email won't be used to attack your phone.

Sms in case of wifi calling is as suspectable to abuse as with SS7 (at least bases on my understanding, happy to be corrected/proven wrong).

As for Whatsapp, does not matter what you use to connect to the servers IF you'd be a target of a WhatsApp specific attack.

Only benefit I can think of is the IMEI not being broadcast if being tracked that way. While on Airplane mode.

Sure it could, but mail is used mostly for PC attacks, and sms won't be used to send you "malware". Links to download one sure, but it won't be stealthy.
