Yesterday evening, I tried setting up Payconiq on my 3rd profile but it asked me to update GMS, so I uninstalled GMS on all profiles to reinstall it BUT I was distracted and uninstalled GSF on my Owner profile too. After that, I did reinstall GSF and GMS.
Later that night, I didn't seem to have any problem but this morning, most apps didn't have any notifications.
Then today, one by one, I uninstalled and reinstalled every app that I thought needed that (not every app yet) but Protonmail still has a popup message saying that I need updated GMS for notifications to work... But every app that I reinstalled worked flawlessly for now (K-9 mail, Outlook lite, Signal, FB, IG, Messenger and Discord).
Edit: I think Protonmail notifications were working before uninstalling GSF. I am almost 100% sure but a part of me is doubting it and thinks that the Protonmail notifications were on my old phone.
today, I already:
- set GMS (not GSF) battery usage to Unrestricted, then turned off and on the device
- checked the version of GMS and it seems to be updated. +A bit off topic but for whatever reason, the Payconiq app still refuses to work+
- uninstalled and reinstalled Protonmail, first via f-droid (a few times), then Aurorastore, then the APK via their website (twice and it's the version on my device, right now)
AND Turned off and on the device between -almost- every installation of Protonmail
- uninstalled and reinstalled every Proton app (just to make sure)
- for each installation of Protonmail, I accepted the popup about access to Notification
It might be worth noting that the persistent gmscompat notifications and such are disabled and that I used the "Copy app to x profile" functionality instead of installing it in the 2nd and/or 3rd profile.
I use Protonmail in Owner and 3rd profile and GSF/GMS in every profile.
It's the only notifications that are missing on my phone right now. Apart form what I said, do you have another potential fix?
Also, off topic but if I want to always receive notifications from messaging and mail apps (see the list above), do I need to set their battery usage to Unrestricted? Considering that there's also the option to "Pause the app if unused".
-> Another way of asking the question is: do these apps need to be unrestricted to just send notifications and nothing else?
Right now, while being in the 2nd profile, I am receiving notifications of K-9 mail, Outlook lite, Signal, FB, IG, Messenger and Discord that are in the Owner profile.
Asking that because this night, I didn't get any notification from messenger, fb and ig but I got one from Signal. I am unsure if it's because of broken apps due to uninstalled GSF or because of battery settings.
Sorry for the wall of text, I preferred being more precise from the beginning.
