I checked pluja/awesome-privacy (the website where I get my ideas from for various social media), but I found no Android app in particular. But you can just use Redlib in the Vanadium browser, if that works.

Thanks for the suggestions. But I want to use an alternative to Reddit to ask for advice or something. For the moment, the two that interest me but which is better between these-two? Kbin or Lemmy?

userofgos Infinity is great because you don't even need to be signed into an account but can still follow subreddits.

userofgos I've tried Infinity, along with pretty much all the others, and much prefer Boost by a wide margin. The best thing is that there is a ReVanced patch for it that allows you to still use it completely normally and without limits even after Reddit cracked down on all the 3rd party clients. No ads either. You just need to get your own developer ID from Reddit, which takes all of two minutes. You input it during the ReVanced process. But you can then use that apk on all your devices without needing to use ReVanced again.

Balokzx I've used Lemmy. It's fine, there just aren't a whole lot of users. At least there wasn't that many when I last used it a few months ago.

MEGAbyter oh that's interesting. I'm currently not a fan of the security implications that come with using any of the Revanced app mods. I don't understand what's going on under the hood and would rather not increase the potential attack surface.

userofgos That's completely understandable. I've ditched all ReVanced stuff except for Boost. Been using Boost for years and I just can't deal with Reddit any other way. The ReVanced patch was a godsend for me.

I was under the impression that it was just microg that people took issue with. But it does make sense to me to be wary of ReVanced itself, because you're right, we have no idea what it's actually doing under the hood. I might move it to a different profile now that you've said something lol

ChemicalWonka1 there are two app versions. Infinity+ (free) and Infinity-Patreon (paid). Currently the latest stable release is v.7.5.1.

It is free to use. I use the Patreon apk from their GitHub and have never had to pay for anything.

There's also a version for Lemmy called Eternity

RedReader maintained by QuantumBadger is by far my favorite reddit wrapper. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here yet. This app was given an exclusion in the recent api debacle for its accessibility features and is still free (as in "freedom" and money).

Large user-base/actively maintained, anonymous subreddit following/blocking without needing an account, easy media downloads, fast & simple account switching if you do wanna log in, robust swipe/tap/grsture customization, dark mode, collapsing all admin and/or bot posts by default and so many other features.

I thought the OP was looking for a separate type of social media type app or I would have recommended RedReader. I agree with you, it is excellent. Great way to avoid ads etc.

calpurtmun to use Reddit with a VPN you need to buy API key and Infinity app doesn't accept crypto as payment to buy the key
