So I love Graphene, just want to say that. However, I thought of a feature that may be of use to many.
I love the idea of the duress password, where the device can be wiped. So, I thought, maybe the same wiping can be done, but through another option if needed: by pressing the power button quickly five times, and then holding down a button on the screen for three seconds.
I think it was the Google health or security app that did this, where you pressed the power button five times and then if you held own the button for three seconds that would appear on the screen, emergency services would be called along with other things happening. Perhaps, the same five-press of the power button plus the three second hold can be implemented on Graphene OS, but it would be customizable, so you would be able to determine the action it would take.
For example, some actions would be:
- Call emergency services
- Wipe the device
- Switching to a different profile (in case you need to quickly switch for privacy concerns)
- Toggle a forced duress password mode where, any password inputted then wipes the device.
- etc..
I think this would be a great security addition and feature that would enhance our abilities to protect our data.
