So I have my Pixel9a running up-to-date Graphene OS. I have a mobile eSIM (U.S.) in one of the eSIM slots. However, when I'm at home, I prefer to have the mobile data off completely because I prefer to use Wi-Fi when possible for obvious privacy reasons. However, I just happen to be going through my router, which runs OpenWrt router shtuff and noticed that the phone had two connections only: one to a VPN (good) and one to my mobile data/number provider. What the what? Granted, networking is mostly not my strong suit, but I'm wondering what would cause that? Although it was very few packets (maybe 300-ish in 10 minutes?) it's still enough to make me wonder. Thoughts?
