What update channel are you on (Stable, Beta, or Alpha)? And have you disabled System Updater?

The other option is to sideload the latest stable release (this release)

Release Channel: Stable
Permitted networks: Any
Require battery above warning: off
Require device to be charging: off
Automatic reboot: off

I would prefer to do the update OTA. Is there any log or way to see the reason why no update shows up? It used to work seamlessly, up until 2025061600.

A couple of things to try...

Settings > System > System update > Notification settings

Enable "All System Updater notifications"
Enable all (including unused) Notification Categories

Settings > System > System update > Check for updates

Any interesting notifications show up?

Any chance you have disabled Automatic reboot and ignored previous notifications and you haven't rebooted the phone in a long time so that phone has downloaded but not installed the latest Stable Release?

What is the reluctance to sideloading? Sideloading has helped me in the past, I'm not certain I can help any further.

userofgos Thanks for the hints. I just rebooted the device and now updates are flowing in again. Somehow the reboot notification must have been missed or vanished.

LazyT With Wi-Fi based network location when GNSS is not available? That's expected as of now due to the variations in Wi-Fi signal strength which are used to estimate the distance to use for locating you using lateration.

Perhaps this could be somewhat mitigated by checking sensor data in some way.

Is this a major issue for you?

Hat It could, but it would essentially mean storing a location history of where you've been. We plan to have an option to download a database of positioning data for Wi-Fi APs and cell towers pertaining to specific areas instead, which would only reveal that you are somewhere in those areas.

I believe the new desktop mode is currently rumored to be available with QPR1. But "Desktop mode is coming with the next release!" rumors have circulated before and have been incorrect.

So I think it would be best for claims about the expected future availability of Android features to cite a statement from Google.

I am still having the issue (since the last release) of the background being dimmed when switching from one profile to another, even though "Modes" is off. I need to turn Modes on and off again to make the background normal brightness.
