What do you think of Accrescent app store?

I've had Accrescent installed since I came to GOS coming up to 3 years ago now. I admire what it is trying to do. The (very few) apps I need can be found via Obtainium or Aurora in anonymous mode. So, for the present, it is not required, but I am open to seeing what else shows up.

I recognise that there is a process to have apps added to Accrescent, but what process exists to remove defunct ones, such as RiMusic, which was closed as a project quite some time (at least 6 months) ago?

LunaticBuzz Existing apps will be automatically delisted once their target SDK is far enough out-of-date, which usually takes about a year. That is, once it's out-of-date enough, it won't be normally viewable to users browsing Accrescent who don't already have the app installed. The system is similar to Google Play's.

It's very barebones. However I do appricate the effort. I got some hopes for it. As of now there are only one store to get proprietary apps from Google Play (Aurora is still just Google Play). The de facto app store monopoly is a problem for the android ecosystem. Accresent if it where successfull, it could mitigate some of the problem with that. If the user could get some of the proprietry apps the user finds neccessary such as banking apps, uber, commuting, parkning etc from another store that Google Play. It's an overall win.

lberrymage I am curious what criteria Accrescent uses to consider an app's target SDK sufficiently out-of-date to delist. Will target=35 be removed for Android16, for example?

gristle-cause We intend to use the same criteria Google Play uses for now. For example, existing apps must currently target at least Android 14 (API 34) to be available on Android 15 and higher.
