GrapheneOS & Danish Apps (MitID, MobilePay) - 2025 Status?

Hi everyone,

I'm strongly considering switching to GrapheneOS for its excellent privacy and security benefits.

However, as a Danish citizen, my daily life relies on several key apps that must be fully functional. I've read older posts where users reported issues getting these to work, often due to the hardened security features of GrapheneOS and or the apps themselves.

I'm specifically concerned about:

MitID (Our national digital ID and 2FA)
MobilePay (The dominant peer-to-peer payment app)
e-Boks (Official digital mailbox from the government/companies)
Rejsekort appen (Public transit app)
Various Danish banking apps

My question is: What is the current situation in mid-2025?

Have these compatibility issues been resolved in recent GrapheneOS or app updates? Or are there now stable and reliable workarounds to get these essential Danish apps running smoothly?

Any recent user experiences or guides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would suggest checking out the latest replies in the dedicated forum thread for those apps, and asking your questions in those threads if your are unable to find an answer. You can see from the number of replies in those threads that people are active there. In general, having a dedicated thread for a topic centralises discussion and avoids the forum being cluttered by dozens of individual threads all asking the same question.

I can perfectly answer, cause i have just taken the plunge. The short answer is it's really rough

MitID - does not work. The developers have completely blocked it
MobilePay - Sometimes work. But i constantly have to sign in. It's very annoying
E-Boks works
Rejsekort appen does not work. Some weird location error
My banking app works

It's such a shame. Cause the OS is actually nice. But i am on the edge. I can easily see a future where they block MobilePay and then i would actually have to get another phone.

Unfiled8819 MobilePay works for me flawlessly on secondary profile, and I have yet to sign in again. Odd

I found Rejsekort works, but you have to wait a little bit for the GPS/GNSS fix to detect your location.

Unfortunately the app does need to be given way too many permissions.

Likely best just to keep using the anonymous rejsekort.
