Audio resumes on speaker after disconnecting Bluetooth headset during call

Hi !

I’m experiencing a recurring audio issue on my 8a.

Steps to reproduce:

Connect a Bluetooth headset.
Start playing music.
Receive a phone call and answer using the Bluetooth headset.
During the call, disconnect the Bluetooth headset.
Continue the call using the phone.
After ending the call, the music automatically resumes over the phone’s speaker.

I understand this may be inherited from AOSP behavior, but I’d appreciate any insight on whether it’s fixable or worth reporting upstream.

Note : My friend who has a 6a (also running Graphene) is experiencing the same issue, so it doesn’t seem specific to the Pixel 8a.

ZenoZenith Which behavior were you hoping for? Depending on how the BT headset was disconnected, it may be completely out of the picture.

de0u Thanks! Ideally, I’d expect the music to not resume at all automatically, or at least resume only if the same output device (in this case, the Bluetooth headset) is still available.

ZenoZenith I see. I expect Google believes resuming the music is a feature, and I also suspect they believe automatically switching the output destination is a feature. But I admit this isn't something I do, let alone something I have tested on Google's Pixel OS or vanilla AOSP.

Historically the GrapheneOS project has focused on security and privacy features and has not had a lot of resources to spend on UI changes. So if it is known that the AOSP upstream behaves differently in this regard and somehow GrapheneOS accidentally introduced a change, it might make sense to file an issue and it might be fixed. But if the GrapheneOS behavior matches upstream and you wish upstream did something different, that would probably be something to suggest to Google.

de0u What you say seems perfectly coherent to me, it remains to be seen whether it will ever be corroborated on AOSP.
