Signal - can't choose backup location

Hey, I moved to a Pixel9 with GrapheneOS and restored the chat backup from my old phone. So far, so good. But when I try to enable backups again, I'm unable to choose a folder on the phone. I enabled every permission, but I can't select a local folder on the phone. Any idea? Tried several times with different permissions, but the file chooser dialogue is always the same... screenshot1 screnshot2

Have you maybe enabled Storage Scopes (Signal> App Info> Storage Scopes)?

If so, make sure that Signal has permission to access the folder where you want to store your backup

Another idea:

If I am interpreting your screenshot2 correctly (sorry my German isn't the best) it says that the selected folder cannot be used. But the screenshotted dialog seems to offer you to create a new folder - have you tried that?

You need to create a new folder for it, that's all.

Thanks for the replies, I tried all your suggestions… but neither creating a new folder worked (the folder were created on the fs but is not selectable) neither using storage scopes seems to make a difference. For now, I'm uploading it to the Nextcloud connection, this seems to work at least, but it's not very practical regarding the size of the backup.
