Seedvault backups over webdav are always corrupted

I've been using seedvault with a USB drive and its worked fine with barely any issues, however I would like to back up using the webdav option instead. I've set up caddy on my server which is available over Tailscale (with the caddy+tailscale automatic certificate provisioning).

I've tried mounting it on the phone with davx5 and the direct webdav access in seedvault but the result is always the same. The backup says it was successful, and I can see that files/folders have been created on the server. However when I check the integrity it says they're corrupted. I've tried deleting it and starting again but it makes no difference. If I switch back to USB backups it works again. Is this an issue with seedvault or have I configured something wrong in caddy? The Tailscale app is also excluded from the backups so the connection isn't interrupted when the app restarts

Infernal_pizza hey, relatively newbie to gos but I enabled backup a few days ago firstly local as a test...

Failed/retried/failed/retried/success

Then moved it over to WebDAV (self hosted nexcloud)

Saw the same.. Failures.. Try.. Fail.. Retry.. Success
Sometimes a reboot would allow a backup without failure.. Can't say I have any faith in it!

I'd not tried a verification yet so just ran one now and completed OK first go.

From some other comments on this forum, seedvault doesn't seem to be very reliable... (Seen suggestions to manually install your apps first)
Ive Never had to rely on it or use it for a restore yet

Cyanide77 Yeah it doesn't seem to be the most reliable. All my important data is backed up elsewhere anyway but I still want full device backups just because its much more convenient to restore from. I have actually had to restore from seedvault a couple of times and it seems to work ok, but that was from the USB and the backups on there passed the integrity check every time.

Infernal_pizza when I added my nextcloud WebDAV, I didn't use davx.. I used the other option ( the native GOS WebDAV cloud beta )
Not sure if that made any difference ... But my verify did pass

I didn't trust seedvault in the past but it has been much improved over the last year (specifically native webdav, D2D, and the new hash blob repository format).
Seems to work fine for me over native webdav.

Backups are reasonably fast, i've tested restores several times across 2 resets (including a migration from LineageOS)
My problems with it aren't its reliability, rather some useability quirks

sometimes it's not possible to restore one app without restoring several others, no idea why
Rigid mnemonic key mechanism
File backup restore UI isn't great and really should be nested like a file hierarchy
no control over max backup sizes, retention options. Fortunately i'm fine with the default
Only supports certain SAF providers by whitelist. Roundsync was alright until I switched to webdav.

chisc Thanks, I switche to rclone and finally managed to get it working! I was only using Caddy+Tailscale because for some reason I thought https was required
