GrapheneOS Install flash issue

I have now installed GrapheneOS successfully three times and now working on the fourth. Each time it gets stuck on the flash restart before the writing begins. I am now stuck again. I have tried four cables. I know at least one of them worked in the past. They all get me to the point where I get stuck.

Assuming the restart is required. Then give us the option to just begin the write after the first failed reconnect after the restart. I believe that will save so many of us.

I am using a Pixel tablet with grapheneOS and Vanadium browser. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Fname I'm not quite clear on the issue here, but it sounds like the flashing process stops after the device that is being flashed to reboots.

Did you read this from the webusb installer instructions?

On Android, disable desktop mode for the browser since it currently prevents our web installer from detecting Android and handling needing to request permission to reconnect to the device after each reboot. Desktop mode is enabled by default on large tablets with at least 8GB of RAM such as the Pixel Tablet.

If the browser is in desktop mode during flashing, the button "Reconnect device" will not show up.

fid02 I have read those instructions a thousand times and never noticed the disable desktop mode…dah!! Maybe you should highlight it. Thank you, thank you, thank you, it solved the issue. It brought up a new message to reconnect a couple of times and then started writing. Somehow another disconnect at the beginning of the write. Reconnected and then finished without any issues.

The reconnects are expected. Mobile Chromium doesn't just allow arbitrary connections so you must manually allow itto connect every time.
