Slight delay when entering fastboot mode

I’ve noticed that on my Pixel 7a, when entering fastboot mode, there’s a vibration first, and only after a 2-second delay does the fastboot menu appear.
However, when I first bought it, fastboot mode would open instantly—this was the case until, I believe, the second reinstallation of GrapheneOS.

Is this normal behavior? Could my device be compromised? And more broadly, is it even possible to compromise the bootloader?

zfc I believe the bootloader is updated from time to time as part of the firmware part of regular OS upgrades. In general it would not be surprising for a later version to do more steps during booting.
