Signal verification not working on Pixel 7

Hello,
I am hoping to get some help getting Signal messenger on my new Graphene Phone. I downloaded Signal from the sandboxed Google Play store on a Pixel 7. It asked for the permissions it believed it needed, then for my phone number. I put in my phone number, resolved a captcha and then it prompted me again to confirm my phone number. It then showed the verification screen and asked for the six digit verification code it sent me.

Here I run into my issue: I never received the code, clicking resend code also does nothing. Would really appreciate help troubleshooting this problem. Thanks y'all. I am not in the US, I live in the Middle East, I don't know if that is part of the problem.

unverifiable I had the same problem on a Pixel 7. I had been trying to receive a code for a few days. After several days of waiting and trying, I finally got the code. This seems to be a common problem.

It is likely that the SMS verification code from Signal is being blocked from the mobile provider in your country. Can you try the voice call?

This is likely not a GrapheneOS issue but a Signal issue and should be further discussed there.

Unfortunately the call function simply won't allow itself to be clicked. Knowing that it may be a mobile provider issue helps though. I'll email Signal.

Make sure you are entering the number correctly. Sometimes this is a problem. You may have to omit or add a digit, after your country code and before the actual phone number.

Hi, I learned the hard way it could be phone companies causing problems. No chance here to get the Threema SMS verification working providing a number issued by swedish operator TRE (Hallon). Telia just works on the other hand. I am on a Pixel 7 but the operators routing and filtering is to be blamed. Greetings!

In my case disconnecting from WiFi allowed me to receive the verification text..I was stuck in a loop where it would keep asking me to complete the captcha, but I could dismiss the captcha prompt and it would progress to the verification screen but never sent a code from there. Possibly a different issue to what others are experiencing, but easy to check.
