Bluetooth crashing when connecting to Asteroid OS watch

Recently I got a second hand Tic watch pro and flashed it with a custom OS called Asteroid OS however when I connect it to my Pixel 6 running GOS bluetooth crashes.

I've been speaking with some of their community on Matrix and found this github issue:

The stars seemed to have aligned as they have the exact same phone, OS and watch model as me with the same problem. Looking back it seems that since A14 there has been a change in the bluetooth stack that has carried on through A15 up until present release.

They seem to be stumped as it seems to work on other platforms so thought I'd ask here as well as continue in their chat.

Perhaps someone who better understands Android development can help shed some light on this!

Germproof3702 The last release for AsteroidOS Sync was on September 19, 2023. Unsure if it's the BLE library they're using or the app itself, but they're trying to write characteristics. Not sure what that means, exactly, but if you look at Bluetooth code, what's happening is it's checking the characteristic length and returning an error because the characteristic is too long. I could be mistaken, but I don't see how this would be a GrapheneOS issue.

The guy on Matrix said he initially "thought the watch was sending notifications/data that was too big" because they had to make a change when A13 came out by "splitting the message to make it work" so maybe it has something to do with this?

I am not terribly sure what they mean by that but they have posted a new message in that issue saying how they tried it on stock A15 and it worked but when they loaded GOS onto it the issue instantly returned.

Not saying it is a GOS specific issue mind you as there are other roms like Calyx reported as not working yet stock is.
