Calls immediately ending, pixel 6a, Australia, 2025, please help.

Hi, I recently got a Graphene OS update, but now when I try to call someone, I get an immediate call ended screen. No dial tone, nothing, just the blue screen saying 'Call ended' as soon as I press the call button. When people try calling me it goes straight to voice mail.

This is using the standard/default call app.

I recently had a similar problem, which I solved by resetting the APN. However I tried using this solution again but it did not fix it. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I am in Australia, which recently shut down 3G. I'm wondering if this has any effect on why my calls don't work after new updates.

Apparently just restarting the phone fixed it? Anyways it is working now.

I have this problem now with a Pixel 8 Pro on Optus, cant make or recieve calls, data works fine, but ever attempt end in imediate call ended, almost at the end of my tether with GOS, I think I will end this experiment and go back to Apple.

Was it working for a while, or is this a fresh install? How old is the SIM? Physical or eSIM?

Overall, if people here will be able to help we'll need a lot more information beyond "Pixel 8 Pro on Optus".

SgtSurehand Yes I'm fully aware of this, but I have hit so many hurdles with using GOS over the past year, dont get me wrong, I'm not saying GOS is crap, its not, its just really, really hard in todays climate to not run a Google service, which I do on GOS, as its completely useless to me if I dont, and if I didnt, then I may as well just run Linux on the phone or just use a dumb feature phone, I'm still pissed about not being able to use Google wallet, I still have an iPhone for work, so I have all my cards on that instead, it just pisses me off that I still need 2 phones to actual get by, I feel like glueing them together like we did years back with TV/VCR/Amp remotes :) 3 remotes stuck together with duck tape :)

I might design and 3D print a folia case that holds a pixel and an iphone that opens up like one of the new stupid foldable phones......

de0u Ive been running GOS for about a year now, maybe longer, this just happend yesterday, I had to switch to using my work phone (iPhone) as I now cant make or recieve calls.

Tried restting APN, rebooting, power down, switching off and on Wifi calling, switching from 5G to 4G and rebooting, nothing works, I have mobile data, TXT still works as I still get spam (typical).

It seems there is a disagreement between the phone, the SIM, and the carrier. This happens sometimes, hence my question about the age of the SIM (and the suggestion on the web site that in some circumstances it is necessary to contact the carrier). If we will be able to help it will likely be productive for you to answer each question that is asked (whether to do that is up to you).

If Optus provides recommended APN information on their web site, does it match what the phone believes the SIM wants it to do?

Is it possible to swap the SIM with another phone?

My sim is an esim, so I cant just swap it out, I hate these esims, stupid idea to be honest, Im sure they are great and fix some security thing, but they are not convenient.

Fix: Okay, there was an update pushed out over the Alpha channel, this fixed the problem straight away, previous update was 2 days ago, I assume this one caused the issue as I haven't used my phone since the weekend, it has just sat there charging.

My phone was on the Alpha update channel due to the Bluetooth issues we had been experiencing with multiple devices not connecting, and I left it like that, so I have now switched it to the Stable channel, which is where it will stay until the next issue.....

de0u No problems, not sure if my issue was a known issue, but I assume they broke something or a few things on the update, and very quickly pushed out a fix, its the one thing I like about the GOS dev's, as they are pretty quick to resolve things, the Bluetooth issues we had almost broke me, but the guys spent a week pushing out little fixes to resolve all the connection issues, was extremely happy with that.
