"error: you need to download a release"

This error keeps showing up when I try to flash the release, even though I've downloaded it over 10 times. I'm using a brand new Pixel 8 pro, I've unlocked the bootloader and followed every step to the letter. Is there something I can do to fix this or am I going to have to use a different os?

May you please provide the details that are needed to resolving your issue, such as which operating system are you using, which browser, how much free space do you have on your hard drive, what type of cable you are using (is it the stock usb cable that came with your phone), and is it a desktop or laptop or a supported device from which you are attempting to install from?

"Error: You need to download a release first!"

This typically means that you either don't have enough free space or using an unsupported browser or doing it in incognito mode?

Have you carefully read through the https://grapheneos.org/install/web#prerequisites

Now it won't let me download the release and I've been hit with a new error "error: undefined"

akc3n Thanks for the reply! I am using Google Chrome on a Laptop with over 62GB of free space, Windows operating system, using my brothers phone (Samsung galaxy A20) charge cable as my phone didn't come with one, I'm not in incognito mode. Should I try a different cable or will unplugging cause further issue?

justneedhelp Windows 10 to be exact. I've read through the prerequisites once more to double check that I have everything in order, and it seems that I do. I suppose using different cables and trying again is my best bet.

@justneedhelp If Chrome isn't working, maybe there's some extension or setting that's causing the problem? I'm not sure. It may be easier to try another supported browser to see if that helps.

other8026 I finally got it installed. You were right, it was the extension I had on chrome; I switched to Edge and got it first try. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!

A charge cable may be just that i.e. not a full usb data cable
