My phone (Pixel 8 running 2025061600) is having several weird issues, I don’t know if they’re all related.
- The 4G calling option is gone. Therefore, I cannot dial a number while having 5G or 4G only option enabled. Internet connectivity is otherwise working, albeit maybe getting disconnected too easily.
- Most of the time, I’m on airplane mode; connecting to the cellular network seems to take more time now.
- My GPS used to be quite accurate (with airplane mode on), but I’m currently facing issues using it (with OsmAnd+) while driving. 40% of the time, my position is about 40 m off.
I compared the first point with a Pixel 7a, also on GOS, and connected to the same carrier: the 4G calling option is present, and working as expected.
Some other differences:
Pixel 8: showing LTE in the menu;
Pixel 7a: showing 4G in the menu.
Pixel 8: phone number is unknown;
Pixel 7a: the phone number is shown in the menu.
Am I missing something?
I guess, the easiest thing to try would be to swap SIMs between phones, but I’m not sure of consequences, like migrating some SIM settings…
