bhj77 You're looking at the WHOIS data for the whole 172.96.172.0 - 172.96.173.255 IP block (172.96.172.0/23) and are misinterpreting it as being information on the server for a specific IP. It's giving you information about the overall IP range, not the server. The link you're taking from there is GeoIP data for all of the ReliableSite IP blocks.
The names releases.grapheneos.org and apps.grapheneos.org resolve to one of the 3 servers based on the GeoIP location of your DNS resolver server or client IP range. 172.96.172.37 corresponds to our dedicated server in Miami from ReliableSite. That specific IP address is assigned to our server. ReliableSite owns the overall IP range so that's why they're the ones marked as owning the IP block.
You probably meant to do a reverse DNS lookup for the IP address rather than a WHOIS lookup. If you did a reverse DNS lookup, it would show 5.releases.grapheneos.org. Note that reverse DNS can be set to any value by whoever controls the IP range including domains they don't control. You can look up the IPv4 address for 5.releases.grapheneos.org (A record) and see it's 172.96.172.37. It's not used by GrapheneOS though that specific name but rather via the releases.grapheneos.org and apps.grapheneos.org names resolving to the closest server via GeoDNS.
